Mindful Mudra Meditation

Diana is a certified Mudra Meditation Teacher at Yaad Wellness. From Diana:

The Mudra and breath work we do together begins and ends our meditation practice. We incorporate a unique approach that I believe is essential for our times—it intentionally bring the natural world into the practice to create what I refer to as a living practice. I do this by guiding meditators to engage with nature or with elements of the natural world on a sensory level. That means focusing on being present with nature, whether it be through meditation outdoors or through a mindful practice that incorporates a live plant for example. This way of being in meditation pulls one out of mind and eventually allows one to experience the aliveness of nature in oneself and aliveness of oneself in nature. It can be quite profound.

In this kind of mediation, we don’t work to eliminate thinking. Mindfulness-based mudra meditation that incorporates breath work is not designed to suppress thoughts, feelings or emotions. Suppression ultimately contributes to the formation of more intense psychological imbalances and/or other health issues down the road. Mindful mudra meditation is about allowing while not being beholden. It’s this allowing that enables us to create the SPACE necessary for the presence required to feel alive and centered in the here and now without daily stimulants. This is a state one can return to and be calmed by over and over again, without limitation. This practice not only transforms the level to which you’re able to commune with life/with nature/your nature, unseating the perpetually restless, ruminating mind—it ultimately effects how you “do life”,  allowing you to meet life in a way that’s characterized by presence and the ability to access joy, multifaceted creativity and peace.

Receiving a proper introduction to mindfulness practices from a studied guide who can provide clear, personalized instruction, a customized, structured practice schedule based on individual needs can help you successfully create a sustainable and rewarding meditation practice that’s simple enough for a child yet mighty enough for grown folk.
