Tsiftiteli - Greek Anatolian Belly Dance

Myrto brings her ancestral dance as an offering to Yaad, providing space for the community to come learn the history, magic and movements of Tsiftiteli. Tsiftiteli is an expression of what is commonly referred to as belly dance in modern Western vernacular.  Blooming from the lands of Cappadocia, the greater Anatolia, Greece and Cyprus, Tsiftiteli is a dance woven through song stories, movements inspired by the ocean and the fire in the hearts of the people of these places. Students will learn about the origins of the Tsiftiteli, while dancing and imbibing in the beautiful music of the region.  Tsifitteli is expressive, uplifting and healing for the spine, heart and sacral center.

Join Myrto on wednesday mornings 10:00 to 11:00 at Yaad to imbibe in the beautiful dance and music of Greece and Anatolia. Tsiftiteli is a folkloric, social, vintage and modern style of bellydance found in Greece and Turkey. Come learn all the basics and more from Myrto! Bring a hip scarf, water and yoga mat optional.
